The Heirs of the Universe

Humans and the universe are a unity, it is a belief that is deeply rooted in ancient Chinese philosophy. Everyone has in their body the power of the mountains, rivers, lightning, and any other forms of mother nature's manifestations. In other words, each person is intricately entangled with every fabric of the universe. With this understanding, everyone can set aside their normative concepts, adjust their perspective on the present time and space, as well as watch their body's conversations with the world independently without any disturbances. We are the children of the universe, and the universe is the only mother. There is no disparity of race, gender, power, and all of us share an immensely strong, rich and beautiful family of origin. Like nature, everyone is immortal, born and die in one, and every atom in our body is all but a dust of the stars.

This is a group exhibition curated by Ziyan Xu that presents 5 artists' works with Cornerstone Studios in London, featuring paintings and installations. In this spellbinding exhibition, Ziyan Xu invite us into a world where the universe binds us together in nature. Exploring both our innate and our physical connection with the earth, through sculpture, textiles and oil painting, The Heirs of the Universe interrogates our very relationship with that which surrounds us.
